Dr. Gunter has served Arkansas education for the past twenty-four
years serving as a teacher, curriculum coordinator, middle school
principal, educational cooperative teacher center coordinator and
director, and assistant superintendent of schools. She was selected
as an Arkansas Public School Hero in 1996.
She currently serves as Executive Director of the Arkansas Association
of Supervision and Curriculum Development. She is, also, a member
of the Arkansas Association of Educational Administrators. She
served as the chair of the administrative sub-committee for administrative
licensure and, most recently, was appoint by the Arkansas State
Board of Education to the Professional Licensure Advisory Board.
She has been dedicated to the improvement of education through
her involvement in state and national initiatives that focus on
educational reform. Her current work at the Center for Leadership
and Learning is directed toward reforming how future school leaders
are prepared in a standards-based program to meet the needs of
the ultimate beneficiary of our schools, the students.
Most recently she has been a lead developer and trainer with Learning
24/7 in a Classroom Walk Through Model for Reflective practice
for school leaders. She has been actively involved as a trainer
for the Arkansas Association of Educational Administrators and
Arkansas Department of Education in the dissemination of this model
in Arkansas.
On the TECH campus, you will find her teaching
the instructional leadership block that includes EDLD 6543 Instructional
Leadership,
EDLD 6402 Working with the Marginal Performer for the building
principal and EDLD 7143 School Accountability for the district
superintendency. Leading the charge for change statewide and
nationally, she is well equipped as she teaches EDLD 6023 Organizational
Change
and EDLD 7003 Seminar in System Issues. Students will find themselves
challenged and enjoying their capstone experience in EDLD 6554,
Administrative Internship, under Dr. Gunter’s supervision.
